Cooking Up Fun With Idioms
Words Have Power
Everyone loves cooking up fun with Idioms and Chef Leeza! Her kitchen is overflowing with idiom phrases. Discovering their multiple meanings helps us learn that words have power. Using common idiom phrases in an interactive way draws children and adults alike in on the idiom action.
Idiom fun increases greatly when Letty Lou Literally arrives unexpectedly. As her name implies, she responds literally to every question and comment. The audience quickly joins in with Letty Lou saying, “Well! You should have said so, dear” to encourage Chef Leeza to watch what she says.
As you can imagine, dusting furniture is quite a sight to behold with Letty Lou around!
It was amazing to see all of the students engaging in this performance. Calling out, ‘You should have said so’ with Letty Lou, helped them realize what they say really does make a difference.
